My parents came to town

My parents were able to get away for the weekend and visit their favorite children, and Jonathan and I were glad to have them! It was very productive and not one bit long enough. I meant to take a picture of us all together, but it just never happened.

So, {insert family picture here}

Saturday we woke up ready to get to work. Since Jonathan and I are new to this house thing, my parents were just the help we needed. We started at Home Depot, (My dad knows every inch of that store) and stocked up on some fertilizer, pine straw, and a few flowers. We clipped and chopped and dug until we rid my flower bed of them pesky weeds. It was hard work! But it looks MUCH better!

 I can't wait till this one is in full bloom! Cutest little flowers.
 Pretty Stoked about my Tomato plant. My grandmother had the greenest thumb and I'm hoping I got a little of it in my blood. Time will tell...
 We planted some little orange flowers along the walk way and in a planter :)

 LOVE
 My dad used his specialties and hung things in our garage. I like clean.

 We also went mattress shopping for our guest bedroom. It will be here tomorrow and this is the headboard I am making for it. {from Pinterest of course} cant wait!
Such a great weekend but way too short! Thanks mom and dad for everything!

{A little funny}
So being new homeowners there are things we still haven't quite mastered. We were showing my parents our attic and they were asking how we changed our air filter. Our what? We had NO idea we were ever supposed to change that. We found it in our hall ceiling and it was FILTHY! It probably hasn't been changed in a year! eww.. Live and learn....

Spring Break

My Spring Break (which is not much of a Spring Break when your an adult and have to work) started off with dropping this handsome man off at the airport. He went to Vancouver on a missions trip for the week and I missed him and was bored without him. (look at those dimples.)
I worked while Jonathan was away but come Thursday afternoon, I was beach bound. My friend Amanda's parents live in Destin Florida, and she decided to visit them for the weekend. So I rode along and reaped the benefits:) It was gorgeous! Beautiful, warm weather, cool nights. It was just perfection to me! The first day I missed a spot with sunscreen and was a tad miserable in some areas. But well worth it!

 It was so perfect that my mother-in-law Jane also happened to be at the beach with some sweet ladies I miss dearly from back home. I'm so glad I was able to visit with them, even if it was for only 20 minutes.

Melody being her goofy self waddling the tubes back to the place they got them. It took her a while..
Amanda's parents spoiled us rotten. Her mother made yummy breakfast for us every morning and snacks when we got home from the beach. This is one mornings spread.

 On our last morning it was super foggy and cold. I still loved it though!

Im so sad I had to come back to reality so soon. I am just holding my breath till we return in May for a WHOLE WEEK with our boys!

Lord's Provision

I'm not the type to share my feelings much, but I feel as if this is worth proclaiming. For the past few months, since January, I have had some "mild" health problems. It seems like a lot because it has all been back to back to back. In the colder months for about three years now, I get heavy chest pain. I have been to my primary Doctors over the years and they can't seem to find any visible problems. It will last for a week or so then go away. At the beginning of January it happened, so I went once again to the Dr. who then sent me to a heart specialist and a lung specialist. After cat scans, breathing tests, ekgs, the diagnosis resounds, we cant seem to find anything. And praise the Lord, there is nothing seriously wrong, but all I could seem to feel was anger. All the money we were about to spend in medical bills for them to say they cant find something when obviously, im in pain. We have been very blessed over our married lives with our finances. We have never been in the negative. The Lord has just reminded us over and over in our lives of his provision and so often we just soon forget it after the hype is over. A few months later I went back to the Dr. this time for my arm. I thought I had just slept on it wrong and I would complain about it all the time. Im sure it was driving Jonathan crazy so I went. Long story short, My shoulder joint was popping in and out of place causing pain down my arm. What? I have no idea how it happened. So i was sent to a Sports Medicine Dr. where I had an Xray and an injection of some sort (very painful) and I start therapy next week. Once again, super terrified of the bills. Now, last one, yesterday I went to the walmart walk in clinic to discover I have a bladder infection. geez. So, let me just sum all that up... we will be paying medical bill debt till were homeless! FALSE! Let me just show you what happened...

Heart Specialist: $8
Lung Specialist and all the tests: $12
Bladder Medicines: $4 a piece
Cat scan: $21 (thought it would be thousands)

We haven't received bills from Sports Medicine, but I don't think i should be to worried. :) In Kroger as the Pharmacist was ringing up my prescription I was just holding my breath. $4 she said. I was shocked, she was too, she said that doesn't happen that often, but we only have to pay $4 for ANY prescription at Kroger. What? I walked away and began to tear up. Thank you Lord. {Matthew 6:26-27}. Who do I think I am worrying about money. Was I not created by the God of the Universe who cares for me and loves me. {Psalms 8:3-4}The Lord has ALWAYS provided. Sometimes Jonathan and I kid about me being faulty and breaking all the time. Well I do most of the kidding. But I know I am beautifully and wonderfully made.

The Weekend

What a relaxing weekend! We had some friends over Friday night along with uninvited Severe Storm warnings {scary}. So after being cooped up in the house all night, Saturday I decided to go on a SHOPPING SPREE. My parents and Grandaddy sent me some Birthday money and it was well spent!
With my cold hard cash, I got 4 tops, a dress, some kitchen towels {I think i have become a collector of all things pinstripe/kitchen towels} mascara, and tea glasses {not pictured} and.... still have some money left over! I think I did pretty good wouldn't ya say! Thanks mom and dad!

For dinner, I met Jonathan and some guys at Buffalo Wild Wings where they stayed and watched the Duke game...for FOUR HOURS. I only stayed for the grub and I was out of there! I found this quaint little spot on my way home. Its like a whole different world on the Reservoir. I love to come here. Summer time is coming and I'm a itching' for some vitamin D and H2O!

What I feel was most accomplishing about the weekend was finally deciding and purchasing a window shade for the front door. As people walk/drive by they stare straight into our home and can see everything! My sweet Cousins gave us a house warming gift to be used for something we needed and this definitely fit the requirements. I was worried Jonathan would hate them, they're growing on him.

I love lazy weekends like this one. No real places to be and no real work to do. Just livin' life. Church was pretty awesome too. We went through The Church in Acts 2 which is also what we are focusing on in the Movement. hmm. Funny how things line up huh? Next weekend I may be singing a different tune. Jonathan is leaving for Canada on Saturday and will be gone for a week.... :(

Twenty Three

February 28th was my Twenty Third Birthday! and it was a great one! a little dreary outside
{the way I like it} but it was jammed pack with friends, fun, and a TON of laughter.
 My sweet hubby put this train of goodies out before I woke up. {I am a candy Junky}
 My sweet boss Jane got me this very thoughtful gift. A drink dispenser
{since we have people over all the time}some of my candy she has seen me eat, and of course, a cat card. I am so blessed to be working under her. She is the sweetest.
 My very best friend Rachel took me to one of my favorite {closest to work} spots since I only have an hour. Kismets. Yummy Greek place, but I always get the Bacon Cheeseburger and a coke. Hmm. Not too venturous.
 My Yummy Birthday Cake!
 We went to another one of my favorite places for dinner. Sal and Mookies. Its a local pizza joint and I love it! The atmosphere is great and they have an ice cream parlor there. How cool.
 Some great friends to celebrate with me! The boys are not pictured on the other end of the table.
 ....And the embarrassing Birthday song were everyone turns to look at you.
 Alletta, Dana, Me, Amanda
 My Bowls that have been on my wish list for a long time. Amanda and Rachel got them for me. I love love love them! Crateandbarrel.com
 Oh my cat cards. The one on the left from my parents meows to the Birthday song.
And I couldn't leave out this lovely gift from Chris Wilson. Yup. That's a Turtle.. in my house. He is one of a kind. and NO we didn't keep him. Chris sent him to live in the backyard of our neighbors. {We are good friends with them & they go to our church so they will find it humorous} :)

I had such a wonderful day. My husband and friends made me feel so special. Here's to Twenty Three. What shall this year have in store....
